About the Central Chapter

Learn about our history, our leadership team, and our commitment to high school football officiating.

Our Foundation

Dedicated to Safety, Integrity, and Rules Enforcement on the Gridiron

For generations, the NJFOA Central Jersey Chapter has brought together football officials dedicated to serving the student-athletes, schools, coaches, and communities of Central New Jersey. As a chapter of the New Jersey Football Officials Association, Central Jersey has long been committed to developing knowledgeable, prepared, and professional football officials. Through classroom instruction, rules interpretation, on-field training, mentorship, chapter meetings, and continuing education, the Chapter helps officials develop from their first days as cadets through years of service on the football field. That commitment extends beyond simply administering the rules of the game. Our members are expected to uphold the principles of fairness, sportsmanship, professionalism, integrity, and respect that are essential to interscholastic athletics. Over the years, the Chapter’s training programs have continued to evolve. Officials learn not only the rules and mechanics of football, but also communication, game management, teamwork, judgment, and the responsibilities that come with representing the officiating profession. Today, from the Delaware River to Raritan Bay, the NJFOA Central Jersey Chapter serves football officials and communities throughout Central New Jersey while remaining committed to the same fundamental purpose: preparing officials to serve the game of high school football and helping the next generation of officials carry that tradition forward.

The mission of the NJFOA Central Jersey Chapter is to promote excellence, integrity, consistency, and sportsmanship in high school football officiating. We are committed to recruiting, training, developing, and supporting officials who are prepared to serve the game with professionalism and sound judgment. Through education, mentorship, rules knowledge, mechanics training, and continued development, we strive to improve the standard of officiating throughout Central New Jersey. We serve the game by supporting its student-athletes, coaches, schools, fellow officials, and communities; promoting fair play and good sportsmanship; and working cooperatively with the New Jersey Football Officials Association and the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association. Above all, we are committed to leaving the officiating profession stronger for the officials who follow us.

President's Address

NJFOA Central Executive Board

““Welcome to the NJFOA Central Jersey Chapter. It is an honor to serve as President of an organization made up of men and women who share a commitment to the game of high school football and to the profession of officiating. Being a football official requires much more than knowing the rules and being in the right position on Friday night. It requires preparation, judgment, communication, teamwork, professionalism, and a willingness to continually improve. Those qualities are developed through the time our members spend studying, training, attending meetings, mentoring one another, and learning from each experience on the field. Our Chapter's responsibility is not only to prepare officials for their next assignment, but also to strengthen officiating throughout Central New Jersey. That means supporting our current members, welcoming and developing new officials, maintaining high professional standards, and ensuring that the knowledge and traditions of those who came before us are passed along to the next generation. Whether you are a veteran official, a new cadet beginning your officiating career, a coach or administrator working with our members, or someone considering becoming a football official, I hope you find the Central Jersey Chapter to be an organization committed to education, sportsmanship, professionalism, and service to the game. It's my hope that all of our members, current cadets and potential new members will continue to sign in and check out this new website for updates on Chapter News, Announcements, Rule Interpretations and any other pertinent information that will keep making the Central Jersey Football Chapter the best it can be and more. I am proud to serve alongside our members and look forward to another successful season. John Becker President NJFOA Central Jersey Chapter””
